At Giant Bradley’s Sweet Shop, we know that running a business responsibly matters. As a family-run sweet shop based in Yorkshire, we are committed to reducing waste, using resources carefully and making practical improvements wherever we can.

We are not claiming to have everything perfect, but sustainability is something we continue to review across our packaging, recycling, energy use, stock management, transport choices and day-to-day operations.

Our Approach to Sustainability

Our approach is based on practical improvements rather than empty promises. We continue to look for realistic ways to reduce waste, improve efficiency and operate more responsibly while still offering the sweets, gifts and pick and mix favourites our customers love.

As a local business with sweet shops in Yorkshire and online orders delivered across the UK, we understand the importance of making responsible choices for our customers, our team, our community and the environment.

Packed With Care

Many of our online orders are packed in cardboard boxes ready for delivery across the UK. We reuse cardboard wherever practical, and any cardboard waste that cannot be reused is collected for recycling.

Packaging and Recycling

Our sweet pouches are recyclable, helping customers dispose of packaging more responsibly after purchase.

We also manage cardboard waste carefully across our premises. Cardboard is reused wherever practical, and any cardboard waste that cannot be reused is collected for recycling. We ensure that 100% of our cardboard waste is recycled.

Reducing Food Waste

Food waste within our business is minimal. We carefully manage stock and product dates to help reduce unnecessary waste.

Where products are past their best-before date but remain suitable, they may be placed in a best-before-date box. This helps avoid waste while still offering value to customers.

Energy Efficiency

We are conscious of our energy use and have installed LED lighting wherever possible across our premises.

Our team is encouraged to use energy responsibly in their day-to-day work, and we continue to review practical ways to improve energy efficiency across the business.

Local Employment and Travel

Where possible, we employ staff from the local area. Many of our team members are able to walk to work, which helps reduce travel-related emissions and supports our local community.

Being a local employer is an important part of who we are, and we are proud to have a team based in and around our East Yorkshire sweet shops.

Climate and Business Resilience

We are aware of the growing challenges caused by climate change and the need for businesses to think about resilience and risk.

We have begun reviewing climate-related risks that may affect our business, including flooding and periods of high temperatures. Where possible, we take practical steps to reduce risk and improve resilience.

Reducing Our Carbon Footprint

We are conscious of our carbon footprint and continue to look for ways to reduce it through improved energy conservation and responsible operational choices.

This includes considering the environmental impact of our electricity supply and choosing providers with a lower environmental footprint where possible.

Our Ongoing Commitment

Sustainability is an ongoing journey. Giant Bradley’s Sweet Shop remains committed to reducing waste, improving energy efficiency, supporting local employment, managing climate-related risks and making environmentally responsible decisions wherever we can.

We will continue to review our practices and look for new opportunities to reduce our environmental impact while serving our customers and supporting our community.
